My Week in Boston

In my English class, we were asked to write a blog post for the Lonely Planet, we were given a city and a video to write about. This is how mine turned out :

My Week in Boston

American culture has always interested me, ever since me and my family moved to Texas a few years ago, I’ve wanted to know a lot more! So when my parents surprised me with a vacation to Boston, I was absolutely ecstatic! Boston’s known for being the perfect place to learn all about American culture.

Even after we got on the plane, I didn’t catch any sleep, with all of the excitement I had the night before so I was up for the whole plane trip! Though when we landed, a rush of sleepiness came over me and as soon as we got out of the taxi and into our AirBNB, I immediately collapsed on my bed. Without eating or changing out of my clothes.

Morning came, and my mother basically pulled me out of my bed when she came bursting into my room. She told me to get prepared quickly or that they would leave me behind. So I sleepily got into the cold shower which luckily pulled me out of my dazed state. After I got ready, it looked they already started the car and were preparing to leave, without ME! “Wait!” I yelled after my parents, and they begrudgingly let me in.

They knew I was incredibly hungry because I hadn’t eaten anything at all last night. So we decided to go to
the all famous Union Oyster House! I excitedly ordered their signature oysters, of course, and I enjoyed them immensely ! I suggest that when you come visit Boston, have a meal at the Union Oyster House!

With our stomachs filled, my parents suggested to walk the Freedom Trail! A whole 3 hours of so many historical buildings! I learned a few things of history that I didn’t know about the American Revolution, it was such a great place with a lot of beautiful scenery. Especially the graveyards!

The next day was spent a lot at a nearby park, I took lots of pretty photos! But when night came we went to an Irish pub as planned! I wondered why they would have an… Irish pub in America, but the experience, was fine. It wasn’t that exciting, my parents had a few drinks and talked with the locals. I ate potatoes with Irish cheese rolls, and that dish probably saved my opinion of that night.

The next 5 days were spent sight seeing, buying souvenirs and going to malls and buying even more stuff. I’d say my week in Boston was absolutely amazing! I’d never trade this experience for anything else!
