Professor Goggles

In the European section, a while ago, we were asked to write and come up with an imaginary professor that would teach at Hogwarts. I got right to work on the description and here’s how it turned out :

My Professor’s name is George Goggles, he’s… a bit of an odd fellow. You would never see him without his, well, goggles. Hence the name. This professor was not a fan of tight clothes in which he always felt suffocating, that’s why most of the time he wore baggy or loose clothes that would always be twice his size.

He taught Muggle Studies, ever since he was a young wizard he’d always be incredibly interested in Muggle technology. People would describe him as a heartthrob or a dreamboat, girls or even boys would swoon over the sight of him, with his cute round face and his fluffy side-swept hair. Even though his large goggles would make him look like a bug, if he’d ever take them off, his deep blue eyes were to die for.

And that, was the entire description… But I figured, why not elaborate more on his past ?

His Childhood

Professor Goggles’ childhood was quite normal. Well, what you’d expect from a magical person’s point of view. As a little kid, as mentioned earlier, he loved Muggle technology. He was lucky to have a family who was very in touch with the Muggle world, and they would also have monthly visits to London. During one trip to London, as usual he’d always stare at all the latest gadgets, this brick named the Nokia, he was absolutely amazed by how you could talk to another person by just “typing” on the indestructible brick!

“Bloody hell!” George exclaimed, absolutely stunned. He might have made a few people jump as he quite literally screamed his words. “You think Nokias are cool?” snorted a voice that came from nowhere, or so George thought. When he looked to his right, the face of a boy he didn’t know burst out. George squeaked and stumbled, but the boy luckily caught him.

George dusted himself off, repositioned his goggles and faced the boy. “Thank you- And yes I do find the Nokias… cool, who… are you?” He tilted his head, and got a better look at the boy. The boy was tan, showing he’d spend most of his time outside. He was a brunette, his hair was long and messy, you could even see a few twigs and leaves, but a white bandana would make it look just a tad bit cleaner. He wore a puffy orange jacket, and a black and white two toned shirt, black teared pants and orange checkered-patterned shoes. He looked like he had just fallen out of a tree since you could see a bit of dirt on his clothes, and a few small cuts on his hands and a bandage over his nose, which was starting to turn purple.

George raised an eyebrow at the boy, “Are you okay?”

“What?” the brunette looked down at his clothes, it took a moment for him to process George’s concern but when he realized, he facepalmed, “Ohhh! Yeah- I fell out of a tree, I was trying to get back a little girl’s kite from the tree, but instead I fell down and broke the kite in the process… It’s fine, I bought her a new one and some icecream too! So all is well.”

The boy grinned after he had told his story, it amused George, ‘life without magic… muggles sure are interesting.’

“How heroic… Well, nice to meet you, my name’s George.” he held out a hand, slightly puffing out his chest. The other boy took and shook his hand with excitment. “I’m Sal!”

Sal, shook George’s hand with such a might that thought there was an earthquake happening. After that dizzying experience, Sal grabbed the poor boy by the wrist and dragged him out of the store. Saying something about meeting up with a friend of him…
