My training session
Part 1 : The company
First, I did my training session in a dance club. The name of the company is Artistic’ Center. It is a centre for people who want to dance. It is located In Cannes la Bocca in Michel Jourdan’s avenue. It was created on the 1st of October 2004. It was first located in the Cannet first but it moved three years later. I chose that company because I dance in this centre and I wanted to know more about the dancer’s job.
Part 2 : The staff
There were 8 employees ; 7 professors and 1 host.
The professors were : 3 men : Mino (hip-hop L.A), Hani (hip-hop new style) and Brandon (street jazz) and 4 women were : Magali (classical), Megan (jazz), Anissa (modern) and Stephanie (jazz). The host was Claire.
I worked with the director (Stephanie) so I assisted Stephanie in her dance lessons. The employees were kind, friendly, helpful with me. I felt secure and confident because I knew them.
Part 3 : Working conditions
During my training session I had to dance with people and clean the rooms. My work schedule was :
Monday -> 5.30 pm – 9.30 pm
Tuesday -> 5.30 pm – 9.30 pm
Wednesday -> 3 pm – 9.30 pm
Thursday -> 6 pm -> 9 pm
Friday -> 5.30 pm -> 9 pm
The task was interesting when I danced but a little bit boring when I cleaned. When I danced with people I showed by example the steps and they did the same thing. I did warm-up with students and after the choreography. When I ,had to clean I swept the rooms so it was not very interesting.
Part 4 : To conclude
My problem was the public transport because I had to do between 30 and 40 minutes of bus to get to work. My success was when I worked with kids because there were adorable with me and there listened to me. I did not have any problems. I learned that it’s difficult for children to keep focus and me all the time. I learned that there is a big job behind just dance ; a dancer needs to choose a music, do a choreography for every level. I recommend this company to other students if they love dancing and maybe would like to become a dancer because it enables to see how a dancer lives. I don’t want to become a dancer because it’s just a hobby for me. I would like to become a military in air force so it’s quite different!
